3 Escape House Fire; Family Pet Not As Fortunate

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Just before 10 am Monday morning the Fort Wayne Fire Department was called to a home in the 2500 block of Greenway Rd.

After fire crews arrived at the scene they witnessed a large amount of smoke coming from the home. The fire was then located in the basement and firefighters had the fire quickly under control in about 10 minutes.

All three of the homes residents were able to escape on their own before firefighters arrived however the family pet did not survive.

No other injuries were reported and the fire remains under investigation.
