FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- More than 60 Army Reserve Soldiers assigned to the 384th Military Police Battalion returned home Wednesday afternoon at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.

The unit deployed August 22, 2012 to Bagram, Afghanistan and spent the past year working side-by-side the Afghan National Army. The unit was responsible for training, advising and assisting the host-nation army.

Maj. Gen. Sanford Holman, the commanding general of the 200th Military Police Command, said the men and women of the 384th MP Battalion have played an important role to the success of American and Afghan forces.

"I am truly proud of these Soldiers," he said. "Today, we turn a page to a new chapter of this battalion. The history books will write of their professionalism, can-do attitude and stellar performance while deployed overseas. They truly are America's best and brightest Soldiers."

Holman said this reunion is not only for the families of the fathers, mothers, sons and daughters, but for the entire Fort Wayne community.

"I want to thank the entire Fort Wayne community for assisting our Soldiers and families who were left behind during this difficult time," he said. "A successful deployment starts with the family and our families also include the communities we call home. Thank you for what you have done and continue to do for the Army Reserve and the 384th.
