ELKHART, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Indiana State Police Senior Trooper Mick Dockery and his K-9 partner Hondo lived a day they won’t soon forget.
On Thursday, Trooper Dockery and Hondo were thrown in the mix of things as soon as they went on duty. They helped officers with the State Police Marijuana Eradication Section locate 81 marijuana plants at an indoor growing operation at a home in Mishawaka.
In the afternoon they assisted Trooper Joe White search a tractor trailer that was stopped on the Indiana Toll Road near Elkhart. During the search Hondo “bumped” the transport trailer. The enclosed car transport trailer contained a 2007 Mercedes Benz S550 valued at $100,000 and a 2008 Rolls Royce Phantom valued at $300,000.
After obtaining a search warrant 29 kilos of cocaine was found inside the Mercedes with an estimated street value near one million dollars.
Once the trunk of the Rolls was opened 11 more kilos were discovered.
The driver of the semi Patrick B. Austin, 46, of Alta Loma, California was arrested for dealing cocaine, and is currently being held at the Elkhart County Jail without bond.
