Fort Wayne, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - The ribbon was snipped Friday, marking completion of a housing project designed to boost property values in the central core of the city.
The home at 2133 Weisser Park Avenue is now finished, meaning all 66 units in the Renaissance Pointe Community are now leased and being lived in.
The $11 million project that entailed fixing up vacant lots along John Street, Gay Street, and Weisser Park, lets residents lease for 15 years, and then buy the homes at a reduced cost.
Association President, Anthony Ridley said, “If something were to happen, or they'd be overwhelmed, you know, you've got property managers, they have avenues to turn to, to get the assistance so they can maintain and operate the home properly, because some people, frankly, have never been homeowners."
Grants have also been awarded to existing renaissance Pointe homeowners to help them spruce up their properties as well.
