Amazon Helping Indiana Recover Lost Sale Tax Revenue

INDIANA (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – Amazon has reached an agreement with the state of Indiana that has the online retailer collecting sales takes on internet purchases.

Governor Daniels announced Monday that Indiana has become the fourth state to sign an agreement with Amazon addressing the online sales tax issue.

Daniels says he’ll continue to push for legislation at the federal level solving the issue once and for all.

Daniels says, “We appreciate the company (Amazon) working with us to find a solution."

In the Agreement Amazon will begin collecting Indiana sales tax January 1, 2014 or 90 from any federal legislation enacted, whichever comes first.

Indiana expects to see $20- 25 million in revenue per year from Amazon as a result.
