FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – ‘Save our School – Elmhurst’ received news Thursday that it was hoping not to hear.
The Court of Appeals of Indiana upheld the decision to dismiss the matter of SOSEHS vs. Fort Wayne Community Schools and Fort Wayne Community Schools Board of School Trustees (FWCS).
The lawsuit was filed by SOSEHS to prevent the closure of Elmhurst High School.
Elmhurst was one of only four FWCS high schools not targeted for state intervention at the time the school was announced for closure.
Elmhurst had achieved a zero dropout rate, led local schools in graduation rate gains and produced championship student-athletes in a successful small school model.
Members of SOSEHS will convene on Monday, June 27, to discuss the ruling, deliberate on remaining legal options and determine what action to take regarding the case.
