UNDATED (www.incnow.tv) - Exactly how much did Americans spend on gas last year?

The US Energy Information Administration says the average American household spent nearly $2,900 on gasoline. That number accounts for a staggering 4% piece of the income pie; and is the highest estimated percentage of income spent on gas in nearly 3 decades.

There's been one exceptional year in that span, 2008 when the average household spent a similar amount of money on gas.
