GULF OF MEXICO (Indiana's NewsCenter) - BP work crews labored to remove the blowout preventer cap from the Deep-Water Horizon Thursday.
Engineers and government officials aren't expecting oil to break through once the cap is completely lifted.
The cap is an elongated metal cylinder that was placed on top of the failed blowout preventer to stop the flow of oil and gas.
Once the cap is removed work can begin to remove the blowout preventer and replace it with a new one.
