FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - The Journal Gazette reports there were 25 thefts of catalytic converters from automobiles, in Fort Wayne, in a recent six week period.
The catalytic converter helps strip pollutants out of automotive engine exhaust.
Some of the metals, used in the converters construction, are valuable and is easy to steal.
Thieves sell them for several hundred dollars each.
Replacing the converters can cost car owners anywhere from $300- $2,000.
