FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Eight days later and things are looking better for the beloved dog.
If you recall, Chico was discovered clinging to life after Allen County Police served a warrant on a house on Ralph Street.
The little Chihuahua was near death but the staff at Animal Care and Control are nursing the little dog back to health.
The employees at Animal Care and Control say Chico is wagging his tail and even offering a little love.
When Indiana’s NewsCenter asked Chico how he was feeling he gave us a good sniff.
Director of Animal Care & Control Belinda Lewis says, “That's a critical decision. Is the animal going to continue to suffer and still not make it or are we going to be able to bring him back. Chico is a happy ending at this point."
Lewis went on to say they will still need time before putting Chico up for adoption.
She added that the deputies’ involved in the rescue will have first dibs at bringing him home.
