FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – Despite the fact that Coach Mike Danley was eliminated from the Biggest Loser, he says he has the tools to continue creating a longer life.
When Danley began his run on the Biggest Loser, he tipped the scales at 309 pounds. Today, Danley is 75 pounds lighter and weighs in at 234 pounds.
Danley took a break from his workout with Jason Rubin of Absolute Results Personal Fitness to sit down with Indiana’s NewsCenter.
Chronologically, Danley started the Biggest Loser at the age of 62. Physically though, his heart was that of a 74-year-old. Danley says he understood with the average life expectancy of the American male to be 78, his days were numbered. That was just part of his motivation to stand out on the Biggest Loser, lead his team and shed some serious weight.
Danley says losing weight can be done by anyone at any time. He says it just takes a little effort.
“Get up off the couch, get out of your easy chair, eat the right foods and exercise. Go take a walk, take a bike ride. Do something that gets that cardio going, do it three times a week and you'll lose weight.”
The Biggest Loser’s three finalists will compete for the grand prize of $250 thousand but that does not mean Danley is out of the running for some major cash. Contestants who have exited show are competing for $100 thousand based on the greatest percentage of weight lost.
