WASHINGTON (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Indiana's 3rd District Congressman Marlin Stutzman (R) has joined 60 U.S. Representatives in a letter to the House Armed Services Committee asking to save Air National Guard bases throughout the United States.
The letter, also signed by 6th District Rep. Mike Pence (R), 2nd District Rep. Joe Donnelly (D) and 5th District Rep. Dan Burton (R), requests to keep the bases open as part of the Air Force's 2013 budget.
"We believe that a cost-effective and strategic FY13 Air Force Budget should more fully employ the proven capabilities of the ANG," the letter reads. "We therefor ask that you find an alternative for the Air Force FY13 budget in your mark that best reflects the integrity of each ANG base and their proven success."
The 122nd Fighter Wing in Fort Wayne is one base that could close as part of budget cuts.
