WASHINGTON (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords attended the State of the Union address Tuesday night and on Wednesday she formally submitted her letter of resignation.

Giffords announced recently that she would be stepping down so that she can focus on recovering from her injuries after she was shot in the head in Tucson a year ago.

The resignation will be effective at the end of the day, but before she gave it to House Speaker John Boehner she participated in a vote on her bill that cracks down on illegal ultra light flights along the border with Mexico.
