FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21ALIVE) --- Trial dates get set in a nasty child neglect case.
A Fort Wayne man and woman who police say exposed seven children to the freezing cold last month went before a judge Monday.
It was one of four significant cases on the Allen County court calendar.
40-year old Marian Clark and 42-year old Robert Boyko were assigned July 15th trial dates at a morning hearing.
Last month, they were tagged with seven felony counts, after city police say they found seven of the couple's children shivering in a van outside the Hallmark Inn.
Two of the kids were reportedly zip-tied in their seats.
Police say the motel room where the family was staying smelled of animal urine and spoiled food.
Meanwhile, prison time is in the future of 34-year old Chandra Greene.
In 2012, the Fort Wayne mother made headlines when she forced three of her kids to live without electricity or water, and admitted to hitting her middle school aged son in the head with a hammer.
A judge ordered she spend roughly three additional years behind bars, after she went "AWOL" last June from a work release program.
Court appearances were also made by two of the first suspects arrested by Fort Wayne's new gang and violent crimes unit that was christened in February.
A preliminary plea of not guilty was entered for 23-year old Henry Purifoy III, who is accused of tossing a handgun out the window of his car as officers were in pursuit with lights and sirens activated.
He's looking at a host of charges, including possessing a handgun without a license.
Three years ago, he was wounded in a nightclub shooting.
Purifoy will be assigned a trial date March 19th.
Meanwhile, 24-year old DuJuane Woods was in front of a judge on a criminal recklessness charge related to shots fired outside Legends Bar on North Clinton Street 10 days ago.
Gang unit officers staked out the place after they got wind of a gang member party.
Woods allegedly fired two rounds that didn't hit anybody.
He figures to learn his trial date at a hearing in late April.
The gang and violent crimes unit is targeting a core group of criminals with ties to drug trafficking and shootings.
