FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Fort Wayne will celebrate the opening of the latest downtown attraction today.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to mark the grand opening of the new Courtyard by Marriott hotel at Jefferson Blvd. and Harrison St.

General Manager Andy Crowell showed off the hotel's lobby and all its ammenities and the inside of the new Champions sports bar during live interviews with Jennifer Blomquist live on Indiana's NewsCenter Today.

The Courtyard by Marriott is the newest development to be completed at Harrison Square. It was built next to Parkview Field, the small Robert E. Meyers Park and the new parking garage. The hotel is also strategically located right across from the Embasy Theatre and the Grand Wayne Center. City officials are counting on the hotel to help boost tourism downtown.

Right after the hotel's dedication, a second ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held to open the new Robert Goldstine skbridge which connects the Courtyard by Marriott to the Embassy Theatre. Officials have said the bridge presents opportunities to open the vacant floors of the old Indiana Hotel above the Embassy to new businesses.
