WASHINGTON DC (Indiana's NewsCenter) – The owners of two egg farms implicated in last month's massive egg recall were called to testify in front of Congress on Wednesday.

The owner of one egg farm, Hillandale Farms, cited the 5th amendment and would not answer questions.

The owner of the other egg farm, Wright County Farm in Iowa, said he was horrified to learn of the hundreds of salmonella illnesses associated with his eggs.

He apologized in front of the committee, which was also shown FDA photos taken of the farms after the outbreak began.

The photos showed rotting chickens, piles of manure spilling out of walls and rodents.
