Election Board Dismisses Scheibenberger Candidacy Case

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The Allen County Election Board has dismissed their investigation into Judge Ken Scheibenberger's past.

The Election Board, after reviewing the complaints against Scheibenberger, realized that they had no jurisdiction over the allegations.

The move comes after the Indiana Election Commission threw out a group's challenge to Scheibenberger's candidacy, last week.

The Journal Gazette said the group claimed Scheibenberger's suspension from the bench last year disqualified him from running for election under a unique state law.

But his lawyers argued the law didn't apply since it involves a commission that investigates misconduct by lawyers, not judges.

Scheibenberger is running for re-election against Deputy Allen County Prosecutor Wendy Davis and Lawyer Lewis Griffin.
