CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Elizabeth Edwards, the estranged wife of 2004 vice presidential candidate John Edwards died Tuesday after a lengthy battle with cancer.
According to a statement released by the family Edwards died at the family home in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
Edwards was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2004, shortly after her husband lost his bid for vice president. Edwards then underwent treatment and the cancer was believed to be in remission.
Then in March of 2007 Edwards’ doctor re-diagnosed her with Stage Four Cancer, confined to the bones, able to be treated but not cured.
