FORT WAYNE, IN (Indiana's NewsCenter) --- The “War of Words” escalates.

Fort Wayne Community School Board Member Kevin Brown, arrested Tuesday on a drunk driving charge, fires back at the board president who took Brown to task over his job performance.

Brown agreed to speak to Indiana’s NewsCenter, provided there was no discussion of his new legal troubles.

But he wasn’t shy about leveling accusations of his own against Board President Mark Giaquinta.

The 53-year old Brown answered several questions outside his home Wednesday morning, more than 30 hours after he was pulled over in New Haven and his blood alcohol level tested .10, above the legal limit.

He was also cited for operating a vehicle without proper registration and insurance, and for driving while suspended.

Giaquinta said on Tuesday, his real issue with Brown is that he doesn't feel he's pulled his weight since joining the board in 2007.

Brown says Giaquinta shouldn't throw stones.

Kevin Brown/FWCS Board Member: " I'm not perfect, nor have I ever presented myself God-like, but ‘Emperor Giaquinta’ seems to think that he's beyond reproach, but I think if you do a criminal investigation on Mr. Giaquinta, you'll discover certain things in his past."

We ran Giaquinta's name in the local court records system, and a 2005 speeding ticket is the only thing that surfaced.

Giaquinta provided this response, "Some of the things Kevin Brown says gives one concern about his mental health."

Brown also defended questions about his resume.

Brown has a "Bio" on the school district's website, that indicates he earned a master's degree in management from Marion College, now called Indiana Wesleyan University.

The university registrar’s office, however, says its records indicate Brown attended the school, but did not earn a master’s degree.

When confronted about the issue, Brown insisted he did complete the course work, and that the registrar’s office must be mistaken.

As it relates to the drunk driving arrest, Giaquinta says it's up to Brown to decide if he'll resign from the board, or whether he'll choose to pull his name from the ballot.

Brown made it clear on Wednesday he has no intention of quitting or giving up his re-election bid.

He says he believes he effectively represents his constituents and that it's up to voters whether he gets another four-year term.

Five candidates in total are seeking the District Four position on the Fort Wayne Community Schools Board.

Election Day is November 2nd.
