ARIZONA (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A federal judge will hear arguments Thursday on whether Arizona’s new immigration law should take effect July 29th.
It will mark the first major hearing in one of the seven challenges to the strict law.
The U.S. District Judge also will consider arguments over Arizona Governor Jan Brewer's request to dismiss the challenge filed by a Phoenix Police officer and a nonprofit group.
The law requires police, while enforcing other laws, to question a person's immigration status if officers reasonably suspect the person is in the country illegally.
