MERCER COUNTY, Ohio (www.incnow.tv) -- One of the two men accused of the double murder of Colleen Grube and her father in Mercer County, Ohio was in court Monday.

Mercer County police arrested the two suspects a couple weeks ago, but Monday 22-year-old Bryant Rhoades was in a Mercer County court room

Rhoades contended that he cannot afford a lawyer and asked for representation. This is his first appearance in court and he is expected to make another appearance soon.

He remains in the Mercer County jail on a $3.5 million bond for felony obstruction of justice, for allegedly lying to police about his involvement in the double murder.

Rhoades, along with 18-year-old Trevin Sanders, is accused of murdering 70-year-old Robert Grube and his daughter 47-year-old Colleen Grube in their Fort Recovery, Ohio home in 2011.

Rhoades and Sanders, both of Union City, Ohio broke into the Grube's home and shot them in the head before ransacking the place.

Trevin Sanders, the man accused of pulling the trigger, was being held in the Michigan City, Indiana jail for committing another crime.

Authorities plan to transfer Sanders to the Mercer County, Ohio jail soon to prepare for his court appearance.

Sanders is charged with 27-criminal counts, including kidnapping and aggravated murder. Since he was 17 at the time of the murders, he will face a juvenile judge first.
