Fort Wayne, IN (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- Residents near a former lead smelting operation in Kosciusko County can breathe easier.
Indiana's NewsCenter reported last month that the Indiana Department of Environmental Management planned soil testing on and around the former PB Company property.
Seven soil samples taken April 27th from the one-time smelting site and surrounding homes show in each case lead levels well below EPA risk.
IDEM revealed in 2005, soil on the former PB Company was tested and lead levels were a problem, requiring impacted soil removal.
IDEM will make its final report available when the investigation is complete.
