FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- Hoosiers took the plunge Saturday afternoon at Parkview Field to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics Indiana.

Brave souls and warm hearts from the Fort Wayne area lined up for the icy dip starting at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Some dressed as super heroes.

Others, like Mayor Tom Henry, relied on swim suits and t-shirts.

The event benefited the Special Olympics.

Officer Josh Hartup with the Fort Wayne Police Department says, “It's great to have all the support for Special Olympics. We're just happy to be a part of it.”

This is the Special Olympics' signature fundraising event.

More than $300,000 was collected statewide last year.
