Fort Wayne, IN (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – Witnesses say a fight broke out between two individuals in the 400 block of east Tabor Friday afternoon. The argument came to a head when one of the individuals pulled out a gun and shot the other.

The victim was seriously injured and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The person shot in this home is still fighting for his life.

Police say five-people were fighting and the person who was shot had hit others inside the house before being shot.

Police had one person is custody, but they have been released and are back at the house.

Indiana's NewsCenter talked with neighbors who wouldn't go on camera but they say they heard an argument going on and then the gunshot.

Fort Wayne Police Officer Raquel Foster says its those types of people they need to help stop the violence.

"We always say it's a partnership. Your local law enforcement agency can not do it alone. We rely on the public to share information with us. When these shootings do occur we really want to take these
individuals off the street. Identify the suspect. Get them off the street."

As far as the shooting being the 20th one of the year, Foster says anytime someone is shot is concerning to the Fort Wayne police. The statistic isn't a spike from previous years and most of the victims are targeted.
