WARSAW, Ind. (21Alive) -- A man was arrested after he allegedly refused to leave a Meijer and later led police on a high-speed chase.

Monday at around 5 p.m., Warsaw Police were called to Meijers for a man that was causing problem and refusing to leave.

According to police, when they arrived Meijers employees informed them David Metzger, 33, of Claypool, had been asked to leave and was becoming increasingly agitated and belligerent. When officers made contact with Metzger, he began yelling and arguing.

Police gave Metzger a written trespass warning and then he go in his car to leave. But instead of leaving, police say Metzger moved his vehicle to another parking spot and yelled an "obsenity" at police. When an officer approached the vehicle and attempted to open the driver's door, Metzger sped off.

Officers then attempted to make a traffic stop in the parking lot but Metzger reportedly refused to stop. He fled down US30 at a high rate of speed. Officers used Stop Sticks to flatten the right side tires of Metzgers vehicle near Center Street. Metzger eventually stopped after loosing a shredded tire east of CR 250 E.

Metzger continued to resist but was eventually taken into custody. Police say he continued to be uncooperative at the jail and attempted to bite several of the jailers.

Metzger was booked on a D felony charge of resisting law enforcement with a motor vehicle, trespass and reckless driving. His bond is set at $2,000 surety only.
