NEW YORK CITY (ABC) - Sometime Sunday evening, the head of a powerful global banking organization is expected to face a crowd of international reporters when he arrives at a downtown New York courthouse, to face charges of sexual assault.
The arrest went down like a scene from a movie: a high-powered international banker and politician yanked from his first-class seat moments before his flight took off for Paris.
Dominique Strauss-Kahn, president of the International Monetary Fund, is now charged with three crimes.
"Attempted rape, a criminal sex act and unlawful imprisonment," says Brian Sessa of the New York City Police Department.
His lawyer said Strauss-Kahn denies them all. His trouble started Saturday when a housekeeper came to clean his $3000 dollar a night suite at a luxury hotel in Times Square. The woman thought it was empty.
Police say Strauss-Kahn emerged naked from the bathroom and attacked her. She fought him off only to be dragged into the bathroom and attacked again before she broke free and escaped.
By the time the police arrived, Strauss-Kahn was gone and it seemed like he left in a hurry. Detectives found his cell phone still in the room.
This is not the first time Strauss-Kahn was found trouble. In 2008, the married father of four had an affair with a fellow economist, later admitting he made an "error of judgement." His rumored sexual escapades have been folklore in France for years.
"He already had this behavior because he already had a sexual problem with another lady. So it's a second time," according to tourist, Terzian Zella.
These latest accusations have touched off a political tsunami in France where Strauss-Kahn was seen as having a real chance to be the country's next president. As he fights the charges in the courthouse, the international monetary fund has named his second in command acting director.
