IMPD: 8 Homicides In 24 Hours

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind (21Alive) -- The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police are reporting that the city saw eight homicides in a 24 hour span.

According to RTV6, the first reported homicide was an early evening shooting yesterday that saw one person die on the city's north side. Police believe the shooting was not random and was targeted.

A few hours later IMPD found four people, two men and two women, fatally shot to death inside a home near Interstate 65 and Keystone Avenue. The IMPD also believe that shooting was targeted.

Early Friday morning saw a fatal double shooting happen around 12:45 a.m on the city's northeast side. This marked the 6th and 7th homicides in an 8 hour span.

This afternoon, IMPD released information that the cause of death of a 50-year-old man found Thursday morning was ruled to be a homicide. This marking the 8th homicide Indianapolis saw from 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning to 12:45 a.m. Friday morning.
