FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - IPFW has reached an unprecedented deal to research giant pandas in China.
Officals say IPFW Chancellor Michael Wartell and Vice Chancellor Walt Branson have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chengdu Panda Center.
The agreement calls for setting up a collaboration for studying panda biology and allowing remote tracking of giant pandas that will be reintroduced to wildlife reserves in China.
Officials say IPFW is the first university to make such a deal with the Chengdu Base. The agreement was signed last week while Wartell, Branson and biology professor Frank Paladino toured Asia for higher education opportunities.
The three are expected to return to Ft. Wayne tomorrow
