Allen County, IN (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Fort Wayne is becoming a center for tactical training for law enforcement.
Hundreds of police officers will descend on the city this week for the "Indiana Special Weapons and Tactics Officers Association Conference."
Officers will go through various "SWAT" exercises at the Public Safety Academy and Allen County Sheriff's Department training facility.
Special Operations Captain Shawn Lawhorn says, “It gives the teams in Indiana the chance to kind of get out of their small box, and see what everyone else is doing. What kind of gear guys are carrying. What kind of weapons. What kind of policies. It gives everyone a peek into the rest of the world around them.”
The conference runs through Tuesday.
This is the fourth straight year Allen County has hosted the event.
