INDIANAPOLIS (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The Indianapolis Colts have hired Chuck Pagano as their new head coach.
Chuck Pagano was the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens this past season, and has been a defensive assistant coach for in Baltimore since 2008. He came to the Ravens from the University of North Carolina, where he served as defensive coordinator under head coach Butch Davis.
The Colts will hold a press conference Thursday at 3 p.m. to formally introduce Pagano as head coach.
Pagano managed the vaunted Ravens defense, which ranked second in rushing defense, fourth in passing defense and third in overall defense for the regular season.
Pagano's previous college coaching stints include Boise State, University of Miami, East Carolina and UNLV.
The Colts' hiring Pagano is a significant shift in franchise coaching philosophy. Ex-head coach Jim Caldwell assumed the top spot as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Pagano could have a tremendous impact on quarterback Peyton Manning's future in Indianapolis.
