Jeep Crashes Into 2 Trees, 1 Dead, 1 Hospitalized

MERCER COUNTY, Ind. (21Alive) -- The Mercer County Sheriff's Department is investigating a crash on US 33 west of Lombard Rd. in Dublin Township.

Dispatch received a 911 call Sunday morning at 3:30 a.m. A maroon 2002 Jeep Liberty was west bound on US 33 when it left the north side of the road, traveled through the side ditch and struck a tree. The Jeep then rotated and struck a second tree before coming to rest.

The vehicle bust into flames. Justin Hamrick, 25, of Rockford, was pronounced dead on the scene and Eddy Blossom, 28, of Rockford, was taken to a local hospital.

Blossom was later transported by Care Flight to a hospital in Dayton.
