FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - 45-year-old Manuel Silva was found guilty of murder, and being a habitual offender.

Silva was charged with killing 24-year-old Christopher Deaton on the city's near north side.

The jury found Silva guilty of beating Deaton in the head with a baseball bat.

Deaton died about a week later.

Since Silva was convicted and the jury found that his criminal record qualifies him as a habitual offender, the judge will now add 30-years to his sentence.
