ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Police say a man serving dozens of years for a murder, confessed to another one and that man had his first court appearance on "that" case Thursday morning.
33-year-old Joseph Kast was formally charged with one count of murder.
He's serving 55-years at Indiana State Prison for stabbing Huntington County Building Inspector Earl Bowman to death in 2002.
Fort Wayne Police say he's now confessed to a Summit City homicide from the same year.
Kast allegedly admitted repeatedly stabbing to death 85-year-old Claude Berkshire in his garage at a home on Juliette Avenue in Fort Wayne.
When he talked to Indiana's NewsCenter, he said he wished things had gone differently in his Huntington case.
Kast says, “I think I was wrongfully denied a change of venue back then. And on this one, I'm just waiting to see what happens. And I did request a fast and speedy."
That means he asked for a constitutional right to have a speedy trial.
Kast will have a hearing to set a trial date, on July 15th.
