Kosciusko County, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – Imagine the horror-- your daughter leaves for a walk and vanishes into thin air.
Lauretta Shoemaker of rural Warsaw is pleading for the public's help in finding out what happened to her teen-aged daughter, who's been missing for five days.
18-year old Aurora Shoemaker is an adult, who can go wherever she pleases, but Kosciusko County authorities say they are asking for tips from the public about the girl’s whereabouts, because her family insists she wouldn't take off without telling somebody.
Family members say the missing girl shaved her head in July, but it has started to grow back.
It is blond with reddish highlights.
Piercings on her lip are a distinguishing feature.
Lauretta Shoemaker says her daughter left her residence in the Suburban Acres Mobile Home Park last Thursday, to take a walk.
She hasn't been seen since.
She left her ID and cell phone charger at home.
She took the phone with her, but isn't answering it.
" My greatest fear is that she is hurt somewhere, and she's probably dead by now, because of no help. She's been missing since Thursday, and it's my biggest fear, something has happened and she's not getting the help that she needs," Lauretta Shoemaker said.
" There have been numerous tips that have been called in to our detective division, that they're sorting out, but at this point in time, nothing has been fruitful," said Sgt. Chad Hill, a spokesman for the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
Aurora Shoemaker’s fiancé is locked up in the Kosciusko County jail.
Her mom says Aurora faithfully visits the fiancé whenever she can, but she hasn't shown up at the jail since Thursday, which is causing further anxiety for the family.
If you know something that could clear up this mystery, you can call the sheriff's department at 574-372-2494.
