FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Catholic schools in the Fort Wayne-South Bend Diocese are ready to bring in big money through Indiana’s new school voucher program.
According to reports, diocese officials anticipate 1,000 new students enrolling in their schools this fall.
And if they meet their voucher enrollment goal, the diocese could see about $3 million in new revenue a year.
Under the program, eligible families can use public funds to send their children to private schools, but the program is limited to 7,500 vouchers this year.
The Indiana State Teachers Union is suing to block the law, claiming it's unconstitutional.
