FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – Majic 95.1 paid tribute to the late Whitney Houston Monday by playing some of her biggest hits.

Those hits have been spun for years by DJs like Barb Richards, program director at WAJI. She took the opportunity today to give her listeners the chance to relive some of Houston’s greatest hits. Richards says she hopes Houston’s music will outshine the demons she battled off stage.

"I think we were always cheering that she would move on, move away from those demons in her life and be ok. She was a stunningly beautiful woman with a voice to match.”

The voice, according to Richards, is what set Houston apart. More specifically, Richards says Houston’s ability to captivate her audiences through a single sustained note is the facet of Houston’s talent that made her voice a legend.

"Look at "I Will Always Love You." That to me is the sign of a good singer. It's when they really hold those notes for so long, and she just was the whole package."

Tonight at 6 p.m. on WAJI, ABC’s Robin Roberts will host a tribute to the late star.
