FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) --- Jobs in Fort Wayne could be eliminated at the mail processing and distribution facility here if a study concludes the work should be moved to South Bend.
According to the U.S. Postal Service, the "Area Mail Processing Study" is designed to find ways to increase efficiency and improve productivity.
Because of the changes in the economy and increased use of the internet, the postal service is struggling, with a twenty percent drop in mail volume since 2007.
If the study finds the postal service should change mail processing operations, there will first be a public meeting to answer questions and obtain feedback.
