Man Barricades Himself In Apartment, Has 3-Hour Standoff With Police (VIDEO)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (21Alive) – A man barricades himself inside his apartment causing a three-hour standoff with police.

Fort Wayne Police say the incident began around 5:15 Sunday morning at the Orchard Place Apartments off 900 East Cook Road.

Police responded to a man breaking out the windows of his apartment, and heard gun shots from inside. Police determined the man was shooting out of his broken window.

Police made contact with the man, who told them he was suicidal, and refused to leave his apartment.

The Emergency Service and Crisis Response Teams were called out to assist, and neighbors in the area were evacuated.

After CRT communicated with the man for several hours, he finally came out around 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

The man was arrested without incident and taken a hospital for evaluation. No one was injured during the barricade. It is undetermined if weapons were found in the apartment.
