MARION, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- Marion Mayor, Wayne Seybold, announced his intentions to seek the republican nomination for State Treasurer in the 2014 elections.

Seybold says his campaign has already received endorsements from nearly 50 legislators, municipal officeholders and national state and community leaders.

The Indiana Democrat Party Chairman, John Zody, issued the following statement shortly after hearing Seybold's announcement:

"Mayor Seybold lost a congressional bid last year and has run his city's finances into the ground. We hope he and others who might be interested in running for this office will pledge to fulfill the duties of the office, not make it a political stepping stone at taxpayer expense."
