FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- Mayor Henry expressed his concern to Sister City Takaoka, Japan in the aftermath of 9.0 earthquake:
"On behalf of the people of Fort Wayne, I send our thoughts and prayers to the residents of our Japanese Sister City, Takaoka and all of the residents of Japan. By all reports at this point, it looks like Takaoka itself did not receive the damage seen in the rest of the country because of its geography near the Sea of Japan, but that doesn’t mean Takaoka and its residents are unaffected. With a disaster of this magnitude in Japan, the entire country will experience the physical and emotional devastation of this monumental natural disaster. I encourage anyone moved by this event to donate to one of the relief funds that has been set up. In times of great distress, we hope it helps our Sister City to know that although we are half a world away, we stand with them in their sorrow." - Mayor Tom Henry
