FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – A memorial was held for Dr. Stephen Hatch and his wife Kim.

Friends and family said their goodbyes Wednesday afternoon during a private memorial.

The two died in a plane crash, two weeks ago when Dr. Hatch was flying with Kim, his son Austin and two family dogs.

Austin survived and doctors have begun the process of bringing him out of his medically induced coma. His breathing is improving, and he's responding to pain. One of the dogs also survived.

Earlier this week, the National Transportation Safety Board released its preliminary report saying Hatch was attempting an instrument flight approach in low-clouds near Charlevoix, Michigan when he crashed his single engine plane into a residential garage.
