FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - With our first accumulation of the winter storm set to fall Monday night, people all across Northeast Indiana are scrambling for supplies.
"I try to be prepared all the time since we live in the country," said Avilla Resident Kaye Lampe.
"Since it's the end of the month and (I'm) waiting on social security, I was waiting for February. I'm a day early but that's okay, I would rather eat," continued Lampe.
"He has to have milk. He has to have diapers," said Fort Wayne Resident Samantha Welborn, referring to her son while shopping at Scott's on Dupont Road in Fort Wayne.
Indiana's NewsCenter: Does it seem pretty busy today?
"Yes. It's very busy. I had noticed that and I was thinking it must be the storm," replied Welborn.
Welborn finished her interview with Indiana's NewsCenter by recounting her shopping list.
"So if school is closed, their both gonna be home... making sure they have the snacks and everything that they want," recalled Welborn.
We're told grocery store managers believe they have enough stock to weather the storm.
Meanwhile, snow blower sales are also up.
Employees at Mutton Power Equipment said because of local forecasts many homeowners are stopping in, to prepare for the winter storm.
We're told sales usually peak before and after harsh winter weather.
Therefore customers either beat the storm, or shop because they wish they had.
"You know early season buying there's a lot of people thinking about it, coming in looking. Don't get a whole lot of snow here in Fort Wayne so when it finally comes, people get pretty anxious to buy," said Mutton Power Equipment Salesperson Joe Mutton.
Meanwhile, over the past week, Mutton Power has received a lot of online business from the east coast like New York, and Philadelphia.
Sales people truly believe when meteorologists call for heavy snow, that forecast usually pushes fringe buyers to finally purchase a used or new snow blower.
