Fort Wayne, IN (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Prom season is underway, and local school officials say they can't get the message of safety out enough.
Friday morning, hundreds of students at Northrop High School got a very real example of the dangers of drunk driving.
A very real mock crash was staged, complete with a hearse and Samaritan helicopter.
The chapter of "Students Against Drunk Driving" is hoping the images stay with students even beyond this weekend's prom.
Northrop S.A.D.D. Chair Shiloh Arp says, “We wanted to make sure we had a visual for them to make that lasting impression and hopefully tomorrow night, after prom, they're thinking about it.”
Northrop Senior Antonia Khasa says, “I know I'm never drinking and driving after this and if I ever do drink I'll have a non drinking driver.”
The first responders made the crash as real as possible.
They say it's well worth their time if it prevents even one serious accident.
