FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The owner of Momper Insulation got an initial green light Wednesday morning to rebuild on the site of last year’s massive insulation fire.
The Board of Zoning Appeals gave Momper's owners permission to rebuild on their Main Street site.
The fire burned for days in the building that contained countless chemicals related to the insulation industry.
The company says re-locating would cost more money.
Business Owner Matt Momper says, “To move, you know, there are a lot of extra costs that almost make it unfeasible to move, with the infrastructure, parking, and underground tanks. So, we wanted to stay here."
Momper still needs approval from two other agencies, including the Department of Natural Resources.
The business is located next to the Junk Ditch and potential flooding concerns must be taken into consideration.
