FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - More details are expected to come out about plans to shift the Fort Wayne-based 122nd Fighter Wing from fighter jets to surveillance aircraft.
The Indiana National Guard's "Adjutant General" is set to hold a news conference on the conversion Wednesday.
The Air Force proposed last Friday replacing the local base's "A-10" fighters with "MC-12" planes, which are used for surveillance .
The "A-10's" would be retired due to federal budget cutbacks.
The fighter wing phased in the Warthogs over the past few years after flying F-16's for 20-years.
