FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – A Fort Wayne mother is seeking a private lawyer stemming from last years child neglect charges.
28-year-old Amber Tinsley will be back in court for an Omni Hearing March 28th.
Police arrested Tinsley after they found five children, ages three-to-nine, home alone in filth, exposed to rat poison and an iron on high heat.
The nine-year-old who called police to the home told them his mother had been gone for more than two hours and didn't know where she was.
More than 45-minutes later, Tinsley called the home and told police she had been out back smoking a cigarette the whole time.
Police originally arrested her on five felony neglect charges and one count of public intoxication.
Although the charges were dismissed the investigation continued.
