ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Navistar employees will be getting some economic relief soon.
Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry announced Tuesday that Navistar workers are now eligible for re-employment benefits.
Services include education and training, job search and relocation allowances, and health insurance.
Collectively the workers are entitled to over $7-million in resources through Trade Adjustment Assistance and the U.S. Department of Labor.
Tom Henry says, “These 1400+ employees to us are community assets. They truly are community treasures that can contribute to all of Northeast Indiana in a number of ways. We did not want to lose them to Illinois or any place else for that matter.
You may recall, Navistar downsized over a year ago due to state and international competition.
Employees can access their benefits through Work One Northeast.
