ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - The Allen County Commissioner race in 2012 will involve a contest between two Republican officeholders.
Incumbent Commissioner Nelson Peters waited until one day before the filing deadline to announce he will seek re-election.
It sets up a primary battle between Peters and Allen County Recorder John McGauley, who will try to pull off the upset.
Peters says if re-elected, he'll work to boost wages in the county.
Peters says, “We were, about 20 years ago, 105 percent of the national average rate. Today, we're at about 82 percent, so if we can get to 92 percent in the next four years, we have made great strides."
Peters is seeking his third term as county commissioner.
