CALIFORNIA (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – Movie rental superstar Netflix announced Tuesday that it will be increasing the prices on its DVD and streaming movie plans.

According to a Netflix salesperson the company's new $7.99-per-month plan will allow users to have one DVD out a time on an unlimited basis. Those who want to include Blu-ray discs will need to pay $9.99 per-month. If customers want two DVDs out at a time, they will need to pay $11.99 per month. Internet streaming of video content is not included in those plans.

For those wanting the by mail and streaming service will need to start paying a little more.

Instead of paying the current $9.99-per-month fee for unlimited streaming and unlimited DVD rentals, customers will need to pay $15.98 a month for a single DVD out a time. That’s almost 60 percent more than the current pricing plan.

Netflix said the fee includes $7.99 for unlimited streaming and $7.99 for its new bare-bones plan. Those who want two DVDs out a time will need to pay $19.98 per-month.

The new pricing has already gone into effect for new subscribers and existing members can see the change on September 1st.

Netflix says it is only trying to evolve the service and is working on plans of having multiple streams per account at one time. Something that may be useful to family’s with multiple internet connected TVs.
