NEW HAVEN, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – A major construction project linking Fort Wayne and New Haven is right on schedule and it has local businesses excited.

The project will extend Maplecrest from Lake Avenue to State Road 930.

"It will be so much easier to come down here and take that new street than either go around the other way and fight with the trains or go around this way and fight with Coliseum,” said Jason Smith, General Manager, Huffines Auto Sales.

Which means Smith expects to see more people heading into New Haven.

"I know once they get this open I think we should see at least a third increase in traffic,” said Smith.

With that in mind the used car dealer is making sure they're prepared for this new roadway to open up.

"We're in the process of ramping up our inventory, for the increase of business,” said Smith.

The project has been in the works for about 2 years and should be completed by this fall.
